What about a St. George police department. The Sheriff's department is for places outside of city limits, if St. George becomes a city they aren't going to be the primary law enforcement organization in that area any longer.

No dog in this fight but to the OP:
You could walk from some shitholes in Birmingham to Mountain Brook, and MB is and has been considered one of the nicest suburbs in the country for a long, long time.
St George will thrive and have no issues being adjacent to the shite stains of BR.

Drive around Detroit and especially north of the city. Keep driving until answers about the future hit your windshield with bricks, or worse.

There aren't any.
Other than the immorality of sentencing thousands of kids to a shite education when their parents and their community supports an ISD.

Wrong. State law only requires municipalities to have a Police Chief, not a police department. The Police Chief will be the liaison between EBRSO and the SG Government. SG in their proposed budget has already stated they will dedicate additional funds to the Sheriff's Office for increased manpower, facilities and resources to cover the area.

Don't St George residents pay for the Sheriff's department already? I think they still serve Central even though they have their own 5 man police department or whatever.

Yes, but to keep crime down, they are proposing additional resources to the EBRSO.

St. George has 1 high school which would see a huge influx of students and people are expecting to to magically become a great high school.
Because no ISD has ever had to expand ...

So you do support people voting in their best interest.

You are going to lose your shyt when you find out North Baton Rouge is currently considering the pros and cons of incorporating. No One wants to be a part of Baton Rouge's pathetic Mayor/City Council political stumbles... No one trust them.

I see I got 4 downvotes for my question about the new Woodlawn High being in the St. George area.
I asked because I'm not sure.
Is it?

Thank you for the answer. I am a proponent for the St. George movement. But his statement led off with the statement that a new high school hasn't been build in the area since 1940 and I thought that one point was BS.

Yep. EBRSO will continue to be the primary law enforcement in the city of St. George. Like Central, St. George may have a handful of officers, but EBRSO will take the bulk of law enforcement responsibility.

I guess he meant the creation of a new school. Woodlawn just built a new building and moved but it's been around a long time.

North Baton Rouge, LA would have annual tax revenues of $5 and that would be stolen by the clerk.

Unless they could bleed Exxon dry until they left.

Yeah, the new high school was built in 2003. It was built because the original building was literally falling apart and was about to be condemned.

In an attempt at desegregating Baton Rouge in the 70’s, bussing was used and eventually destroyed the best neighborhoods in and around Baton Rouge. So, ask the people who grew up in Sherwood Forest, Broadmoor, Belaire, Baker and other areas still in the decline what they think. Schools went downhill rapidly, followed by plummeting home values.
