This word… You use it but I am certain that I do not know what it means. It sounds pricey.

The a/c probably isn't the issue. Sounds more likely to be a poorly insulated home.
You are correct sir I do believe. Top of the line 1983 build. The big nice vaulted ceiling that goes straight to roof.

Ours died last week.
New ones are not cheap.

The one thing I can say about these cookie cutter 1400sqft DSLD homes after buying ours new 4 yrs ago.
They are well insulated and easy to cool and heat. We keep it at 71.
Very little tree cover and the 'lectric bill is still about $100-$130/month.

Let me guess "One Hour Air"
Those people are the biggest scammers there are. Consistently charging people twice as much as anyone else. Gotta pay for all those commercials.

This is where you need a 2 stage unit. Ours only uses 1 stage until it gets above ~93 outside and then the additional 3 tons kicks on and the fan speeds up to move more air.
Those 2 stage units ate pretty nice. We replaced a unit from 2006 with a brand new 2 stage and it was a big difference immediately. We ended up having the new unit do less of am area and added 2 mini splits. I ate a big cost up front but our energy bill almost cut in half.
Ductwork and getting metal shaped for an old house during the tail end of covid didn't help

I keep it at 76 when I’m home during the day then 72 at night

Was telling my wife the same thing... units are both 7 years old and have been struggling in this heat! Home warranty if they die... so fudge em
I had that for 9 years...in all I about 5500 in premiums and another grand/1200 in service charges. When I first got the policy my ac unit was 11 yrs old. It died s about 6..7 times only to be resuscitated by a ac specialist each time. And I would usually have to go two to three days without before they fixed it ( warranty could do an emergency service if it was over 104) others experience may be different but I would say ... Expect to pay the premium band service fee to keep the same unit running

Bell Mechanical really does do a nice job. They just need to stay away from that Lennox junk.

This needs to be said. Your air conditioning unit is not working harder in the heat. It’s working about the same amount. It’s just running longer and believe it or not that uses less electricity and is not as hard on it as having it cycle on and off a lot.

Sounds like you need 2 units.

78 day, when we're gone
73 night

Our first home was 1200 sq ft and we had a 2.5 ton unit. That thing would not keep up during the summer. Called a company to come out and they said unit was too small for our house. Put a 4 ton, cost us $4k at the time and had no issues after.
Had it serviced a few years later by a different company and they said the unit was way too big for our home. Said we needed a 2.5 ton lol

It’s 84 in mine right now. Got a couple window units helping and a ceiling and floor fan. I’ll turn the central tonight to try to let it rest. I worry about the dogs bc I can’t leave the window units running when I’m at work and it’s staying over 80 all day.
