You talking about the I-65/I-22 interchange?
I-22 might be the one interstate in the country that I question it's creation. There is NOTHING out there. Wife and I took it to Arkansas this year. 90 mph the whole way with zero traffic.

That stretch of 20 between Meridian and Birmingham seems like it's been under construction since I met my wife 15 years ago. There's always orange barrels and lowered speeds but never looks like there's any actual construction happening.

I moved there in 2006. I moved away in 2019. During that 13 years there was a stretch they had been working on the entire time. Went back earlier this month they were still working on it.

My FIL who lives in Alabama was telling me about this. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the contract called for the contractor to get something like $1 million per day for every day finished ahead of schedule but also a disincentive for a $1 million per day fine for every day running over the scheduled date of completion.
It was 250k per day with a 15 mil cap. The deadline was the end of Feb or mid March I think.
I work downtown and I am thrilled that they are opened back up. Traffic downtown has been a bitch. Mostly 18 wheelers being in the left lanes to make right hand turns and running over the cars in the right lane not paying attention that they were turning and people blocking intersections because they are tards.

I have never in my 36 years of life traveled I-10 from Louisiana to Houston without there being some kind of construction going on between the state line and Beaumont. Never.

They should hire them to work in Baton Rouge.

I simply do not understand why Texas government allows contractors to work on 40 miles of interstate at once. I35 from Dallas to Denton was a 3rd world gravel road for a long time - one of the most dangerous stretches I've ever been on. Why not do 3 or 4 miles at a time instead of bulldozing an entire county length at once?
