Tree fell on I-10 blocking one lane. No idea how that’s possible

Westbound blocked

Maybe the 5 days of soaking rain had something to do with it.

So you probably couldn’t accurately call the I-10 at Gonzales speedy?

Trees fall all the time. Why is it so impossible?

Damn, and to think I drove down I-10 westbound through Gonzales yesterday.

Considering the heavy rains stopped Sunday morning, and there are no strong winds today, I find a massive tree falling onto I-10 somewhat kind boggling considering setbacks and all.

It was a huge tree, I drove by it at around 6am. It must have happened not long before that as I watched the first cop pull up. It fell from the right of way and completely blocked the right lane and was spilling into the left. I bet some baws headed to the plants this morning were slamming on the brakes.

After Katrina they went along and trimmed all the trees so this wouldn't happen again.

Guess priorities change.

Well considering the alternative: WBRZ - Deputies cite truck driver which if I recall occurred multiple times in the space of a month, I think I somewhat prefer the apparently rarer occurrence of trees falling than human incompetence creating bigger problems.

I would have thought it would have fallen during one of the storms over the weekend, not almost a day later.

Water still in the ground, soil shifting, weight movinf. Gravity did the rest.
