You really are a contrarian arse. There is mass amounts of rust on that bridge, clearly missing rivets. Imagine what we can't actually see that's missing. Twisted and turned sections of the bridge from either impacts or other damage.

And if you think state inspections mean it's safe, you truly are stupid. Because surely, they wouldn't just put band aids on it to kick the can down the road.

no offense but you dont have a clue wtf you are talking about.

it isnt missing any rivets and the rust is surface rust. the bridge was just blasted and painted not too long ago. all the bolts were also replaced. all the steal was inspected and measured for section loss and any twisting

you are confusing the top section that has been hit a couple times as a part of the structure that is load bearing. Something Visually looking bad, doesnt mean it is, it might be, but in this case isnt.

IIRC, it was inspected after the Isle of Capri ran into it during Laura, too.

based on??

some of you just like to make your opinions known with nothing to back it up

the whole problem with this board is instead of having us separated like in HS, where the LD kids are separated from everyone and the smart kids are put in their own classes.....this board and social media has all together and the LD kids are the loudest and think they are the smartest in the room at all times.

My son came from Houston to visit us last weekend. I always worry about him crossing that bridge.

it was, the piles has NDT testing done and all steel was inspected

people are dumb af.

since the collapse of the Minn Bridge, it has had major repairs 3 times and inspected annually for everything

still needs to be replaced as it has a lot of things wrong with it and in 15 years it will be getting to the point it is hard to repair and a new bridge will take 10 years prolly.

So we have construction between Winne & Beaumont, construction on both sides of the Sabine River, a rickety bridge in Lake Charles, the wreck-prone Atchafalaya Basin bridge, and the glorious Mississippi River bridge traffic.

Is I-10 between Houston and Baton Rouge the worst stretch of highway in the country?
Look at the bright side. At least Ukraine will have the best bridges and infrastructure our money can buy

That is really cute to say and all, but explain the last 40 years that it needed to be replaced, and it hasn't been? Not everything is about Ukraine, genius

You could get a bird’s eye view of it all from the Pile of Debris. Not sure if that’s still the case.

Dude the feds inspect this bridge ALL THE TIME. They do work on this bridge all the time. They literally just did a major project to ensure it's stability/strength a few years ago. Any major issues would have been found then.

You have clearly never driven I-95 on the east coast.

Also, why is traffic allowed to continue on the Westbound side if the bridge is under emergency repairs?

because it is two expansion joints between the concrete slabs?

Been there done that. Headed west bound a couple years ago and there was a wreck on the bridge in the east bound lane. Car went under a semi. Huge fire. Traffic stopped and after waiting an hour-ish they backed us all down the bridge.

Sucked.

Couldnt happen to a more poorly run city/parish whatever, quite honestly. It's just a "this is how its always been done" type of place.

And there's no real alternative...unless you want to travel through speed trap laden towns to the north of I-10.
