With the tank and capsules full, the NamX HUV can manage 800km before needing a fresh hit of gas. However, if you can’t get to a hydrogen filling station, you can run on the six capsules alone, which gives you 300km of range.

For companies to persist with hydrogen fuel cells is something we’ve rather come to expect. But just how NamX is planning to get it done is something we didn’t. Keep your eyes peeled for the NamX car launching in 2025, and all being well, the capsule stations launching around the same time.

I've seen this one...

Keanu cracks the mystery of hydrogen energy using a casio keyboard and an aquarium, but Morgan Freeman ends up blowing up the whole operation to protect oil companies

300km is about 200 miles. That isn’t that great.

Functionally, yes. Practically, no/not yet.

Looks like 800km combined (500 & 300) if you have a location to fill the hydrogen tank & those removable cells, but only 300km if you just have the removable cells.

having 200 miles reserve after you've run out of fuel isn't that great?

It actually looks really cool.

It was a hydrogen bomb reference.

How we gonna make the hydrogen?

Electrolysis?

So burn coal, to make electricity, to then to make hydrogen?

This would all work so much better with nuclear power.

Go watch the reviews of the Toyota Mirai. Donut media just did one a few days ago. There are almost no hydrogen stations, the thing gets half the advertised range, it cost $200 to go 200 miles, the gas nozzle can get frozen to the car, the car itself is extremely expensive, etc etc. We aren't ready for hydrogen cars yet.

Hydrogen runs around $10-$13/kg (gallon) you would prob need 7 or 8 kg to go 500 miles. So $70-$90 per fill up.

I’m sure that cost would go lower if it was widely implemented (their goal is $3-$6/kg).

I’ll stick with gas or diesel powered vehicles from GM, Ford, and Toyota. Specifically from their mainstream/lower priced brands.

It’s too bad the new Mirai is hydrogen. Would make a good Avalon replacement if it had a gas/electric hybrid system.

300 km is just the removable capsules. The main tank gets 500 km, roughly 300 miles. So combined 800 km (500 miles). Thats pretty decent.

And refilling the hydrogen tank should be on par timewise with pumping gasoline or diesel instead of having to wait 45 minutes or longer to recharge an EV battery when you're on a road trip.

Only issue will be whether they can build out enough hydrogen tank refill locations quick enough so that the vehicle will be practical for early adopters.

Burning coal is typically referred to as grey H2. Blue H2 is from methane and Green H2 is from renewables.
