Have a slow leak in one of my systems. Was thinking of trying a stop leak. Any experience with them?

Not an HVAC guy but I did have a similar issue and stop leak helped for a while.
The power company will often buy you an new system and then let you pay them back on your bill.

It's bullshite imo. I paid for it in two a/c systems in my old house and both didn't do shite. Freon leaked out about as quick as before.

Maybe stuff designed to clog small passages isn't the best thing to jam into the refrigerant loop that passes through the compressor. I've never been a fan of that stuff.

Leaks are just kicks in the crotch. A competent HVAC mechanic might be able to come out and find it and fix it. But it's often hard, impossible, or expensive to repair, especially if the leak is somewhere buried in the coil, and there's no guarantee that they'll be able to fix it if you do call them out.

It "may" temporarily stop a pin hole leak however the leak will eventually return. Where's the system leak? Can the leak itself not be repaired?

Find the pinhole leak, chew some of this,

and put it on the pinhole. Use the money saved for repair to get your Christmas shopping done early.

It's a hail mary and if it works it will only be temporary. You should have them try to locate the leak and repair it if they are able to get to it. Replacing the coil may be an option. Check to see if it's still under warranty.

Don't put that stop leak stuff in your system. Most, if not all hvac guys test for that stuff before working on systems. It will mess up their equipment if they try and pull a vacuum on it.
