Well rapid intensification is 35mh or higher in a 24 hour period, why would that not happen?

Saturday is going to be an epic shite show in southeast LA. I feel like a lot of people either don't know about the storm or aren't paying close attention to it yet since it's far away and not knowing how fast it will be moving.

Saturday should be when facebook minivan mom panic sets in and the stores and gas stations are packed.

By the time Florida beats LSU and people are cursing Orgeron it'll be 6 pm and the storm will be only a few hours away.

Actually I have Slackster. Opal, Ivan, too many to remember. But I have never had my phone alert me that a hurricane is coming. 10 minutes later my phone alerted me saying a TS is coming.

Your comment made it sound like a hurricane watch was unnecessary for your area.

I just said the same thing. I guess I'll nap during the day Sunday so I can hold down the fort a 3am.

So this is going to arrive earlier than 8am Sunday? How fast is this thing going, 25 mph?

Yeah the landfall moves up every new advisory. Now it looks like the middle of the night Saturday/Sunday AM.

Sucks.. I like daytime landfalls so you can actually see what's going on.

So after a long day of work I arbitrarily decided to start on page 60 and read up to current before bed

Boy was that a damn mistake...

Tomorrow will be nuts, the news has started the hype train (rightfully so) tonight. People will be freaking tomorrow.

Yeah no time to sleep on Saturday night. Gonna be up drinking with the TV and radio for when the TV goes out. Gotta be nice and drunk so I can hold the fort down.

The 12 hours on the approach to the coast will average 20 mph according to the forecast.

A lot of people definitely don't know. 2 different people on facebook just posted their shock at the news of a storm.

I noticed the NAM 3k has been extraordinarily low, but the 12k and 32k have been inline with the global models. What gives?

Some people do. Stopped into the Gonzales HD this evening and got their last 5gal gas can. They had just gotten a delivery of generators that a few people were waiting on.

Seems like a couple of the models have moved east a bit huh?

Will this be a pretty lopsided storm?

I'm in mandeville, feel like if the eye goes through Biloxi we won't see much

Not saying we aren't prepared, we are, just looking for some positive reinforcement
