In reality Nate is probably about a 55 mph tropical storm. But the NHC and government has to hype it up to try to make global warming seem real.

Weather Channel just dropped the overnight forecast to 60 mph winds. Probably going to keep dropping.

The highest storm surge right now is 4.6 feet at Shell Beach. For comparison, a real hurricane Isaac.. which was the exact same strength as Nate produced a storm surge of 11.6 feet at Shell Beach.

I'm in Pass Christian looking in the direction of the Mississippi Sound from the porch. Can't see the water, but Nate isn't doing much around here. I bet we haven't had 2" of rain (based on the water level in the swimming pool). The wind has been blowing around 25 or 30 mph for the past 3 or 4 hours. Starting to get a few stronger gusts in the past 15 or 20 minutes, but nothing near what we expected. Power is still on.

The highway was still clear at about 7:30pm. I only got a few blocks before the cops ran me back inside. Apparently PC set a 7:00pm curfew.

Its just now getting to where the water height was on Tuesday which is about 2.5ft above normal. I expect we will get another 1-2 ft. That would put it at the top of my bulkhead here.

Has it even really started in Mobile yet? I thought that came overnight.

I don't have a clue. Thought I heard it hit Louisiana but I turned the report off with my remote because A&M was about to score on Bama. I'm sitting on my back porch looking at a brisket I'm smoking. Nothing more than some rain and a little wind over here.

Radar says you should be seeing in the 60-70 mph range on gusts, so Nate definitely isn't mixing the stronger winds down. Limiting surge and damage on the coast. We all got some luck here.

Not watching Weather Channel anymore but last time I checked, Mobile was supposed to get some increased winds around 1 AM through dawn.

But this looks like it's turning to trash faster than expected so hopefully it will be a bust for y'all, too.

If you're armed, I'd just wait until 2 AM and invade one of your neighbor's homes.

Take his supplies and bring him and his family back as slave labor for your compound.

I didn't want to have to resort to that, but there is an elderly couple several houses down I could easily overpower

Yes, I was really advocating that he invade his neighbors in Mandeville and steal their supplies because of a post apocalyptic shortage.

Rain picking up in North Biloxi. I'd imagine wind speed around 35-50. Doesn't seem too bad. The rain is the worst it's been all day. But with the speed of this system, I expect things to improve after midnight.
