this is what I’m trying to figure out. TWC still showing 110 mph winds but then they’ll show the map of the winds and the max it shows is 65

TWC is just reporting what the NHc is reporting, and it’s worth mentioning hurricanes are rated in their MAX sustained wind, not their overall winds over some broad area or anything. I’m sure most know that, but max winds aren’t going to be found regularly by their very nature.

That being said, NHC will do a post storm analysis and rate it accordingly.

There may not be showing windows of a cat 1, but have lived here since 2018. These are some of the strongest gust I have seen in Orlando yet. We spent two days getting the job site cleaned up at work and frick glad we did.

I am watching TWC. I rarely watch this channel.

Are they always this obnoxious and hysterical about a storm even when it's not even close to what they were predicting?

Is it really just all for ratings?

Well.. maybe. They still have to CYA. They downgraded Idalia from 125 to 115 in their postseason analysis but that was probably still too high.

Is it at risk of tipping over like Guam?

In all seriousness it has good water shedding properties because of the topography. But if the surrounding waters are high it’ll back up because the water table is similar to Nola. Meaning you dig 6 inches and you’re dewatering a hole.

Fair, there’s going to be differences

But we’re talking about a difference of a Cat 2 to a Trop Storm.

Is there some kind of time element to change the max sustained winds, thus the Cat rating? I don’t think there’s anything nefarious to it just the difference is interesting to me, but I am definitely a noob at this stuff

We’re getting the southern eyewall now in Babcock Ranch and the wind has definitely picked up. Doesn’t seem too bad though thankfully

Isn’t that the place with all the renewable energy, and of so how expensive will it be to replace all of that?

As soon as they put Kamala on this thing it started dropping like a stone. I don’t know what she did but it worked.

Well it's pretty obvious that their climate change narrative is behind this hysterical coverage.

I hope for two things:

That those most affected by this storm stay safe with minimal property damage.

And that people will see through the obvious liberal slanted coverage with an agenda behind it.
