What affect will it passing directly over the radar have? I know with tornadic thunderstorms the news stations used to switch to nearby radars as the storm started "covering" the local stations' waves and making it less effective, how much will that come into play with the radar in PR?

More of a curiosity question than anything, has no real bearing on anything.

Looks like Bond and Trevelyan are going to have fun tomorrow morning. Hopefully Natalia will still be able to swoop in on the helicopter and save the hero!

What is this low the gfs has coming into the gulf after Maria is long gone up the east coast?

Wonder if that has a chance to develop into anything

Cloudtops warming up last few frames. Whatever this replacement ends up looking like is apparently taking hold.

Expecting pressure to be up a bit for the new plane.

The radar will probably experience some issues. Could be damaged, could be total power failure, could be communication problems with it. For example, the Key West radar quit sending out Level II data during Irma, so high resolution images were unavailable. That is the only NEXRAD radar site in PR, and I am unaware of other radars that have Puerto Rico in their coverage area.

Powering up radar scope and damn there’s a legit gust front ahead of this boundary heading to DFW.

Edit: St.Croix in legit 130 mph gusts right now

I am really worried about the number of deaths this storm is going to inflict in Puerto Rico which has a population of somewhere around 3.5 million people. We still haven't heard from Dominica today. I'm see Puerto Rico being decimated especially San Juan which is one of my favorite cities.

One of my coworkers lived in Puerto Rico for 40 years and has about 20 family members living there. According to him, like many homes in Puerto Rico, their houses are solid concrete. They all have enough food and water to last for a 3-4 weeks. Solid concrete buildings seem to be the norm there and may save many lives that would be lost on a very poor island.

I've been catching a few -160 kts as a max off the SJ radar.

Going to be a matter of miles for St. Croix on missing the inner core.
