If the track of this storm takes the eastern eye wall over the area of 30A in south Walton County, I think people will be very unpleasantly surprised at the extent of coastal residential structural wind damage.

DeSantis just said storm to hit around 10-11pm tonight. Landfall will be east of Pensacola as a Cat 3

All the radars im seeing are showing 6:30pm -8ish landfall for the eye. It seems to be booking 14-17mph

Anyone from Crawfordville, Woodville, up to Tallahassee is going to have to watch it closely.

Why 30A? I would think the damage would be significant along wherever it ultimately lands. I would think the majority of 30A would sustain this better than Ft Walton as the homes are newer and built to hurricane code.

Yeah. It is 105 miles from the barrier islands. So right about 6 hours at 17 mph. ~8:30 PM CDT or maybe 7:30 or 8:00 if it speeds up more.

Desantis was probably going by EDT so he was saying 9 or 10 CDT which is a little later than what it will likely be - at least for the barrier islands.

Google radar from Mike’s weather page is showing it drifting more and the eye maybe going more over the east side of 30a/ Inlet beach area potentially around 8pm

Yep

Tons of trees in that area that havent been hit by a significant storm in a long time

And way more development now compared to Opal which largely spared 30A

I'm referring to the tornadic cell working its way onshore in a band.

Look at that couplet.

It is probably sucking up some fish right about now.

It is still producing massive amounts of lightning.
