I never said if it becomes a hurricane. I said we won’t get a hurricane.

I am 48 years old now. My father graduated from LSU Med School in 1979 and was a resident at USA hospital there in Mobile at the time. My father worked that night and said a wall of the hospital caved in. My mom held me and her bible overnight that night thinking it may be our final night on Earth. Mobile was without power and water for 2 weeks. Tankers in Mobile Bay were on their sides.

Moved my baby girl to Fairhope in August for school. Now, I am an absolute nervous wreck. I know my wife or I are going down before sunrise to get her. I can't believe this shite. Ughhhh.

If it makes you feel any better I rode out Hurricane Sally in the Fairhope area. Sally which rapidly intensified from an 80 to 85 mph Cat 1 (about 980 mb) up to a very high 105 mph Cat 2 (965 mb) in the final 6 to 8 hours leading up to its landfall in Gulf Shores. It was "moving" at 2 to 3 mph and we spent a good 2 or 3 hours in the northern and northwestern eyewall in the Fairhope area 60 to 70 mph sustained winds with gusts up to 95 mph. It was a wild ride with a lot of tree damage but your daughter will have zero issues with any storm surge with Fairhope being on a bluff like it is.

Your daughter should be fine during the storm in Fairhope. The only caveat is I'd recommend riding it out somewhere that doesn't have a bunch of really large pine trees surrounding the house. Those trees don't hold up very well in hurricane force (74+ mph) wind gusts. There were hundreds of pine trees snapped in half in the Summerdale and Foley area after Sally.

IF it does end up being a hurricane at the 10pm update, it's by far the ugliest sonofabitch I can remember in my 40 years

Looks much more like a disheveled tropical storm or depression on IR

They talked about them breaking every year on TWC, so yeh, but even if they were blown, it wasn’t a surprise.

And the only radio station that could get into Mobile was the Big One, 870 WWL. Some 130+ miles away. It was great radio.

All the Brett Robinson condominiums aka the Phoenixes that still have them have told all renters to GTFO by noon tomorrow.

Schools are closed Thursday and Friday in Walton County and I believe parts of Okaloosa county have a mandatory evac in place starting noon tomorrow with visitors in the county having to leave by 8pm tonight.

I’d imagine that spreads into Walton tomorrow or late tonight after the update is posted.
