They should just stop with the forecasting and let the idiots use their gut feelings to predict where they hurricanes are going in the future.

That's absolutely not what they make the cone off of. It's actually a spread of the average forecast error over the past five years.
The actual path is based on models, with a bias to the better performing ones along with their own analysis of the steering patters and how well the models appear to depict them. They explain what they base their path on in every forecast discussion they issue.

Some just a few days ago had this thing going out in the Atlantic.
Someone please make a gif of the noodle models.
Use the NHC forecast. Using the noodles is a good way to get yourself killed.
