so will Irma be a cat 5 making landfall in Miami?
Cat 4/5 seems pretty reasonable at this time. 10AM CDT advisory:

How fitting would it be for Hurricane Lee to hit New Orleans this year?
It would be rather poetic... not that I wish it on anyone.

I saw that this morning too.
Kinda
Kinda

as soon as they released the storm names this year, everyone speculated that Lee was destined for NOLA.
Texas got hit, now Florida. I'd say our number is coming up. No way we can luck out a third time.

what percentage do you have it comes for NOLA... i say 70 percent
If you look at the few frames before it, Lee looks like he's making his way to the gulf. But we're still wayy too far out to speculate anything about that storm.

Neither do I. I would just like it to post up over Mitch's house for a few days.

A lot of gas stations have pumps covered. In Orlando someone said a station had raised prices to 4.99. I found gas for 2.69 off I-4

oh i know its way to soon to speculate but the irony would be hard to top

I've been watching this bitch so it will turn. Suppose to be probably early morning hours into Sunday. I know it's selfish but just want to stop paying attention to the hurricanes floating around lately.
When they predicted an above-average season a few months ago I knew it would be an awful season. This is anything but above-average. How many named storms this year? 20 something already? I'd say that's very active especially considering already 2 devastating ones are about to impact US. This season can really frick off. It seems like after El Nino the cycle always dictates and absolutely brutal Atlantic season. Hopefully this cold front that feels awesome outside right now is an indication on an early fall or possibly early winter. Last year I didn't even know we were in winter in Louisiana.

You do know that the names aren't just released every year, but rotate every 6 years as long as one isn't retired?
LINK
quote:
The six lists above are used in rotation and re-cycled every six years, i.e., the 2017 list will be used again in 2023. The only time that there is a change in the list is if a storm is so deadly or costly that the future use of its name on a different storm would be inappropriate for reasons of sensitivity. If that occurs, then at an annual meeting by the WMO committee (called primarily to discuss many other issues) the offending name is stricken from the list and another name is selected to replace it. Several names have been retired since the lists were created.
My name could be used as a Pacific hurricane.. but they spelled it wrong.

Saw a dude in Florida give his generator away to a woman in tears because all generators were bought up and she has respiratory problems. Complete stranger. That was a nice gesture.

At the rate it keeps shifting, it's going to hit Panhandle on first landfall.
