It's about to look like a giant tornado ripped through them. The strength of Irma is astounding.

It comes out at 12:45 central, and it won't show us anything relevant until 1:30ish.

Im a life long FL resident following this storm with vigilance. I'm well aware of what's going on here. Yea it looks bad and it might be but like I said we are still days away from US landfall so let's stop all the hyperbole.

God bless anyone on the island of Barbuda. They are going to take a direct hit.

I'm going to be pissed when it stops reporting, because it is very likely to happen.

That's not hyperbole. It's a fact.

It is so crazy down here in south fla right now. People trampling each other for a case of water. I've been through several big hurricanes throughout my life (had my entire house completely destroyed in 04), but this just feels different. Feels like the scene from Titanic where everyone is freaking out in the deck before it went under.

I've seen 7-11 feet for the northern islands. It's lower than what we expect to hear bc the surge can go around an island and it's not like hitting a solid coastline

If I was down south I'd be a lot more worried, I'll admit. I still think we luck out compared to what people here are predicting.

It'll start running around 12:30 and become clear about 1:15/20 or so.

The eye looks at least twice the soze of every island in that area, sans Puerto Rico.

Is the hurricane moving a little faster westward than a typical hurricane? I'm trying to find something favorable for the poor islands and their fate.

It's because of Harvey. No one really even gave a shite about Matthew and that was also a Cat 5.

I'd think the pressure changes would alert wildlife or something along those lines.

I think it was Rita coming in ... there were huge flocks after flocks of birds heading inland. I watched for at least 3 hours ... it was amazing.
