There was an actual, defined tropical storm and potential hurricane that was making landfall in southern MS/AL. Little less shear and a low end category 2 was on the table. Closing schools in LA was dumb, no doubt, but people in the path had a plausible reason to close them.

Meteorologists are far better at predicting tracks than they are at predicting intensification.

Margaret Orr reporting that all Louisiana parishes have been removed from the tropical storm and storm surge warnings.

Just got a tornado warning on phone in Pensacola. Can any weather gurus tell me if I really should take shelter or grab another beer

Spin ups in these systems are usually low end tornados, but tornados nonetheless.
