It must be a TD thing to melt about school closures I guess. I don’t see it anywhere else but here and people here get PISSED about them

Because that work still has to be made up at some point. At least from the perspective of someone who works at a HS.

They can't sit on there asses all day eating bon bons alone now

But I guess for some especially with younger ones, they have to figure out arrangements if there isn't a stay at home parent.

how does that make any shite difference when you consider the possible safety issues? A typical high school day(s) work can be made up easily

What is the safety issue that needs addressing before 3 PM tomorrow?

So you would rather bet on the projected forecast, and kids to school hoping it all works out, etc for a hurricane instead of being overly cautious for an area that floods when it rains hard.

definitely can understand this being a headache but when you weigh it all, it's well worth it

I need to start a business for babysitting when stuff like this happens

I get that. My wife and I both work but have close relatives that can handle it.

I see it from that perspective that it is a problem.

But I’d also rather them close now than the ol’ midday emergency dismissal that is damn near impossible to make arrangements for

You would want all those people on the roads hours before a possible storm? Why risk it

I must be looking at a different map on the front page that says this thing is getting to NOLA at 2 AM on Wednesday.

fricking Edwards, SMH when he said he may do that

JBE along with professionals in the know gave an update to local city and parish gov before he went on TV. Parishes shutting down schools are doing so just as precaution. It gets people off the road and allows for first responders to focus on potential unexpected emergencies.

if you can tell me with 100% accuracy there won;t be an issue and are willing to put your name as responsible if something does happen, then I'm with you.

you'd be the first person I've ever known to predict weather with that kind of certainty

As a non parent (maybe someday)

I can understand placing safety first, I can never fault them for that

Better than the alternative of thousands of kids at school then the school try to send their asses home urgently all at once lol

In Ascension Parish about 10 years ago there were back to back 'snow' events.

The first one, they pulled out all the stops and kept kids home. Parents went ape because they can't afford to miss a day of work.

The second, kids were loaded on the bus and some of the buses could hardly make it to school because snow covered the roads. They had to bring the kids back home. Parents went ape for the school putting kids at risk.

fricking lawnmower parents.
