A few things here, the system will be weakening on approach and that process will quicken with the stall near the coast. Areas to the SW of the center will be under offshore flow until the center passes. The heaviest rains will likely be offshore. Also, the initial surge won't necessarily be "held" in place.

That tropical tidbits guy explained it well. The eastern side of the high pressure in the midwest will come down on the low pressure hurricane, forcing it to the right (southwest). There is also a high pressure ridge over Bermuda that is making the hurricane go up (northeast).
The new thinking is the ridge in the midwest will overpower and weaken the ridge over Bermuda and force it more southwest than northeast. How fast that happens will determine the path and location of the storm.
It's crazy but definately possible.

it cracks me up that people post they were trying to get information but had to scroll through posts when they are not living in the other IM threads and this hurricane has nothing to do with them.
ell is a freaking weirdo telling me to RIP because I am not evacing immediately like his doctor friend by the coast. Petti and that other loon are butthurt at my humor about HAARP and how this hurricane could take a weird turn down the coast.

My in-laws were robbed once when they had evacuated for a hurricane ( Elena, I believe)
And before you stereotype, it was there dick head white neighbor's kids that stole the stuff.

We weren’t going to stereotype, but unlike you, we aren’t racists.

Yeah he did explain it well, just seems like such a bizarre scenario

That's interesting and something you don't hear about every day.
Tell us about it. How many do you all raise? How long from birth until u sell?
I hatched 77 million this year. I raise them to 5-8 inches in length and sell them to other farmers who grow them to food size to be processed. I sell roughly 40 million a year. Takes about 6 months to grow them to that size. You only get 60-70% back due to mortality from disease, predators, etc so that’s why I hatch more than I sell.

first saw this and was like "no way it takes that much of a genset to power all that..." Then I remembered the power supply to my desktop is 1.2kw and makes the lights in the house dim when I fire it up.
It’s not so much the wattage usage it’s the amount of cranking amps the wells pull when you turn them on trying to pull water up 1700 ft from underground. It will bog the generator down if it’s not powerful enough and burn up the coils

Yup. Which is why I posted what I did. 1.2kw power supply isn't that big of a deal...but it is when you power that fricker on and fire up Witcher 3 at UHD resolution.
You're pulling a metric frick-ton more than that.

Not that anyone deserves this hurricane but I don’t like the new modeling at all living in Charleston! I surely don’t want this thing brushing our hair with a wire brush for three or four days. That’s going to leave us bald and with a profusely bleeding scalp. Damn! Good luck to everyone in the region.

CDO is looking better, but theres still a patchy E/NE eyewall. If she can close it off completely tonight she will be able continue dropping pressure.

For those wondering about flooding in Virginia, I just received a flash floods alert on my phone. In no way is it connected to Florence, but it indicates that this area doesn't have a lot room to take on extra water.

I’m not trying to derail this thread but how big are your ponds?
Posted on 9/11/18 at 7:15 pm to NYNolaguy1
Still seems to be lacking convection on the southeast side though at the end looks like some is flaring up
