The weather channel is saying in Raleigh they’re expecting 40mph winds and 3-5” of rain. Where the hell are they getting this because everything I am seeing is way above their numbers?

Let's be clear, the Weather Channel is a terrible place to get localized weather info.

Go to weather.gov and search from there.

Not doubting you at all...

Why is that the case?

It happens with basically all landfalling systems. The speed of approach will play a role as well, slowing to a stall will cause additional weakening. The official NHC forecast drops it from a peak 155 mph to 115 mph as it nears the coast.

Or just weather info in general. It's nothing but a click-bait ad-aids infested shitstorm.

I don't know if anyone has posted any of these (I apologize if they have) but here are some videos of Florence from the Hunters yesterday and maybe today.

Do only five star hotels have generators? We were at a Choice hotel last hurricane and I was shocked they didn't have a generator.

Probably. It takes a 150kw diesel generator to power my catfish hatchery during an outage and that’s only 12 LED shop lights, five 2.5hp well motors, and ten 1hp electric motors. Those cost about 30k each. A large hotel would take a few of those generators to power all lights, outlets, doors, computers, and AC units. An average hotel won’t spend that money

That's interesting and something you don't hear about every day.

Tell us about it. How many do you all raise? How long from birth until u sell?

You're a mess in this thread. Best of luck to you and your family, but maybe cut down on posting every thought that enters your mind in this thread. I've been trying to catch up reading and you're everywhere while contributing almost nil.

I first saw this and was like "no way it takes that much of a genset to power all that..." Then I remembered the power supply to my desktop is 1.2kw and makes the lights in the house dim when I fire it up.

You are one weird poster.

You should probably be prepping to leave for a week rather than posting so much here.

Ah, if I would have waiting one more page I would have seen ell addressed this already. My bad.

I know there is this blocking high pressure system in the Midwest but has there ever been a storm that ends up moving SW along the coast? Seems absolutely crazy.

Seems much more likely that it just stalls out and really slowly crawls west.

Lot of truth to this. I paid for RadarScope because I got tired of slogging through awful sites and apps trying to get a solid radar image.

The mobile design of traditional weather sites is so, so poorly done.

The coastline gets spared truly catastrophic winds but instead a much broader area gets catastrophic surge/rain to go along with still-hurricane-force winds (for a prolonged period)?

If the eye is that close to land the eyewall will still likely produce catastrophic winds on the coast
