1.2 inches in 1 minute is the most incredible record on there.

Yeah, the 00z GFS actually has a much more inland stall than previous runs. It's closer to the Euro solution now.

What the chances that one of these hurricanes/ potential hurricanes affects the gulf coast?? this one forming the Caribbean spooks me a bit.

"There is an increasing risk of two life-threatening impacts from Florence: storm surge at the coast and freshwater flooding from a prolonged heavy rainfall event inland," the Miami-based center said in the advisory.

I’m just kind of waking up about this storm. This is going to be bad, isn’t it?

Bought my first home less than 2 months ago and Florence is heading straight for me.
Lowes, Home Depot, Walmart, Harbor freight.... everyone was sold out of generators by Saturday. It had definitely been on my list to buy for the house and wound up getting pushed behind fence repairs, garden overhauls, resurfacing the garden tub, etc.
My windows are indented with brick surrounding so it looks like i will have to cut plywood to fit in the holes rather than board up the outsides thanks to the shutters and textured decorations on top of th ebrick that wont let the board lay flat.
I won't be getting much sleep this week. I'm not in a flood zone and friends/family told me how dumb I would be to buy flood ins for the hell of it.
for good measure.

Any idea how high your slab is above Base Flood Elevation?

Prime says 4-5 days, so I wouldn't get it until Friday most likely even if I had ordered Saturday.

Looks like I’d be driving four to five hours or so to buy a generator somewhere

No, but I have an assload of dirt/rock sitting from the garden overhaul so I'm gonna sandbag the hell out of the place.

Haven’t we recently had a Hurricane Isaac?
Posted on 9/10/18 at 12:20 am to Rebel
Yeah in 2012. It hit St. Charles parish but didn’t do enough damage to get the name retired.

2012. Hit Louisiana.
They’re on 6 year naming rotations unless retired and then replaced.

Storm surge page
According to this my home is inland a bit but the area of map is white with green surrounding on the neighboring streets. Hoping that means elevation.

Florence-0. It is going to be a beast but in NC/SC and maybe Virginia.
Helene-0. It will be strong for a while but completely out to sea.
Isaac. Unlikely. Looks like it could cause some problems in the Caribbean but is heading towards Central America, if it doesn't fizzle out before.
The name unnamed one in the southwest Caribbean: Doesn't seem likely but it's too early to say. Models don't show it going above the Yucatan in a dangerous speed though.
