Huntsville jumps in latest Census count, on pace to be largest city in Alabama in two yrs

Population estimates released last month by the U.S. Census Bureau show Huntsville has added thousands of people a year since 2010, leaping from a population of 180,000 in 2010 to over 200,000 in 2019. That 20,000 person increase is the largest of any city in the state over that time period.
Huntsville started last decade as the fourth largest city in Alabama. It passed Mobile in 2015 and last year it officially passed Montgomery, the state capital, to become the second-largest city in the state.

Huntsville is likely one of the greatest cities in the South. It is the archetype for a highly educated and highly compensated populace located in a Southern state. Louisiana likely needs to set up a task force to study the success of Huntsville and gain some lessons learned to salvage whatever remains of their economy.

To be fair, a whole lot of cities across the country went through a growth phase like this before they became what they are today.

I, for one, resent the carpetbagging nature of most of the new arrivals.
Also pissed that pop's frantic movement to get Limestone Co to wholly incorporate failed, and now Decatur and Huntsville are taking the best revenue generating plots of land from this little bitty cotton county.

Huntsville is annexing so much right now, Madison is completely land locked at this point. The only thing unclaimed is Clift Farms which I have no clue why Madison doesn’t lock that up.
