It’s the nature of government to grow. Any contractions are resisted by rank and file workers who depend on the government jobs for a living.
If the space camp can’t survive via private sector funds, then it should close. I wish Trump would take a sledge hammer to all the programs and facilities that remain extant only because they are funded by public monies.

They've done some upgrades all along. I imagine a large portion of their funds go to upkeep of their exhibits, however.

I was looking through the list of donors and was reminded of a man who recently passed who had a hand in the Moon Race and several aspects of the US space program. On top of his career, he had a great name, Alexander "Mac" A. McCool Jr. He was 96

The space and rocket center or at least space camp is 501(c)(3) so all donations are tax deductible I believe. Check with your cpa to be sure though.

The U.S. Space and Rocket Center doesn't receive any money from the state, it is a self-sustaining agency. It has been the #1 paid tourist attraction in the state for 7 consecutive years and helps generate $120 million a year.

Not to be an a-hole but this is the reality for a shite ton of museums across the country. Most were already severely underfunded and now with losses of revenue, it’s even worse.
Look in our own backyard. Knock Knock museum has been closed since March..? LASM just opened a few days a week for 4 hours a day. Consider helping out your local museums.

There aren't many museums in the country that do what they do. For starters, they aren't just a museum, and it isn't just a local attraction. It is an international draw that offers opportunities to people from all walks of life.

This should not be coming from the small people. Elon Musk or Jeff Bezos needs to step up and cut a damn check. Their companies SpaceX and Blue Orgin pull many future employees and engineers from people that attended Space Camp.

That’s great but 1/3 of museums in US are not expected to reopen, local & international destinations alike. Just because they don’t serve your interests, doesn’t mean that they don’t matter and don’t deserve consideration as well.
My OP was mostly for the local folks and reminding them there are some pretty great museums here as well that are suffering big time.

However, the small people have raised $347,135 in 23 hours. Almost 25% to the goal in a day. If some corporations join in, this should be very doable.

Money is printed and just given away to untold numbers of entities with guaranteed money forever, unending. The money is laundered to the elites, like Ron Forman (small example). Remember Bill Jefferson in NOLA had over 600 non profits listed at one address. It's a grab bag in DC by both the Dems and the Reps. We are being robbed not only of money, but as you are seeing now of FREEDOM and LIBERTY. It was unsustainable and the chickens are coming home to roost.
