Six Howard University employees were fired last year for "gross misconduct and neglect of duties" following an independent auditor's investigation into misappropriation of financial aid funds, according to a statement from the school's president, Wayne A.I. Frederick.
quote:
Frederick said he was first made aware of the problem in December, 2016. He later brought in an outside auditor to supplement the school's internal investigation. Howard completed its internal investigation of "individual employee actions" in September, 2017, and said it would refer any actions for "criminal prosecution" when appropriate. The employees were not identified.
This is where the real fun begins.

One of the employees was apparently a student employee Who allegedly stole upwards of $400,000 from the University. He was a Law student who completed his undergrad at the university as well.
Of course he has denied the allegations. But his social media pages were full of him flaunting what he has. Twitter had a field day on him. I doubt he was eating ramen noodles and pb&j in college. Meet Tyrone Hankerson.
And my favorite one, peep the caption
FWIW, I'm not sure if the allegations are true or not. I went to high school with the guy. I was not friends with him, nor did I know him well. All I know is that he was a douche, who was also voted most likely to be famous. So, I find all of this to be hilarious and ironic.

So when is he going to be indicted?

Did he wear women's footwear in high school?

He must be friends with Lewis from Jeopardy!

I am shocked to hear that a HBC is having money problems.

Misappropriated? It looked like Tyrone appropriated those funds quite well.

I would say criminal prosecution was “appropriate” about the time you figured out they were stealing. And why protect their identities?

1. How does a student have access to school funds
2. How do you not notice the first 100k missing

What a con artist..I hope they take it to this MF.

Elizabeth Warren and Maryland Rep. Elijah Cummings. “What I have witnessed in my role are determined students who try their hardest to find a way through.”

Apparently he worked in Financial Aid. I'm not sure what all that entails and I'm surprised students had access to any of that information.

These were my thoughts as well. I mean, Howard is one of the better HBCUs. It actually has some prestige to its names when compared to some of the other schools. But, typically HBCUs have money problems. So I'm unsure how something big like this goes unnoticed.

Why is a student given a position where he can possibly steal 400k?
See I’m late for questioning party

My guess is that he filed for pellgrants using other people's information and then had checks mailed to him or provided his bank acct info
If so, that would be some big time fraud charges that would bring serious prison time.

There is some comedy to this situation. But it's also pretty messed when you think about how many hard working people have had to give up going to school because of financial problems. Or even the people who have worked a full-time job just to be able to afford to take 2-3 classes a semester.

A person stealing money hires a videographer to show off all the stuff he bought with it?
Holy shite, that is one arrogant a-hole.

I agree, but I think he had access to change his own personal info to be more appealing for whatever grants, scholarships, etc he pleased.

He was one of the people who I always thought were secretly gay. Don't know if he's officially come out.
