man, we got a lot of clueless know it alls in OT.
a lot of reasons.
1. wants to see how player B plays
2. maybe he wants to put player B on tilt
A lot of times, players who are not in the hand request to see the losing hand. It's bad manner but it's legal and people do it all the time.

In no way is A entitled to see B's hand if it was mucked since B was the caller. Had B bet, A called and B mucks upon seeing A's cards, then B would be required to show since A essentially "paid" to see what B was holding.
I wouldn't be playing at that poker room any more if that is how the dealers are trained.

Any player who was dealt into that hand has a right to request seeing those hands because there was a bet and a call. This is a rule to avoid possible cheating. It is bad poker etiquette to make that request unless you actually suspect collusion.
As for who gets the pot it depends on if the dealer had touched the folded hand to the muck pile. If not cards speak and player B wins the pot. This is the danger of requesting to see a folded hand.

Player B since B called and did not fold.

Correct unless the winning player request to see the hand. Then the hand is live regardless if the dealer taps them to the muck. It’s a weird rule but go ask any Poker mananger in America and they’ll tell you the same.

It’s a weird rule
It is. It's uncommon enough that I wouldn't trust every card room getting it right. I have been in a lot of rooms that seem to just make up their own weird rules. Indian casinos are the worst about this. If the floor gets called at an Indian casino there's no telling what's going to happen. It comes down to how knowledgeable the particular floor guy is.

PeteRose. Name checks out in a gambling thread. No offense.
Doesn’t sound right Player B can’t even recognize his hand on a NL table. Was he drunk?
Sounds like the two brothers and a stranger hustle. With the stranger being the casino. They both asked for casino money ?

I don't know the rules but it seems like someone folding should not be forced to reveal his hand because that reveals info about how he plays.

Hang out in a card room for a couple days and you will see this multiple times. People get distracted. Usually happens when someone is chasing a flush and they hit a straight and don't see it because they were so focused on a flush.

No kid...point being, he didn't ask the player, it's plainly stated the DEALER showed the cards...so he either ASKED THE DEALER and B concerned, or it didn't happen
If B consented, this wouldn't be a story, would it?
What Don't you get? According to OP (lying), B didn't consent
My theory is B consented or didn't muck at all, and then was embarrassed to find he was to stupid yo know he had a winner

I bet Player A will never ask to see mucked cards again. Dummy.
Take the win and move on.

There was a bet and a call. The other player put his money in so he has a right to see them. It will bite you in the arse though if his hand is better than yours.
