On June 17, 2021, it officially became a federal holiday. Juneteenth commemorates African American freedom and emphasizes education and achievement. It is a day, a week, and in some areas, a month marked with celebrations, guest speakers, picnics, and family gatherings

Well first off, I'm about to lodge a complaint with my HR department that we don't have that day off. How am I supposed to celebrate an important holiday like Juneteenff if I'm stuck here grinding away for the man???

I have down that I need to fertilize my yard that day. I'll probably do that if the weather is good.

Wonder if the families of those who were still slaves after Juneteenth, in the north no less, will still celebrate?

It's a Sunday. I'll wake up to a nice workout. Take my oldest daughter to the soccer field for some one on one practice. Then hit the pool in the afternoon while consuming a few rum mixed drinks and watching the back nine of the U.S. Open.

Is it an accident that it is also Father's day?

I still don't celebrate either way, but I think it is obnoxious that states outside of Texas celebrate it since it is a Texas thing. Now, if they want to do when Abraham Lincoln gave the Emancipation Proclamation speech, sure.

Watch the final round of the US Open with my dad, considering it is Father's Day.

I have the same issue with it. It's a made up day for the majority of the US. If you really wanted to celebrate when the last slaves were freed in Delaware and Kentucky, you'd celebrate the ratification of the 13th in December. And I would 100% support that, because it is a pretty damn big milestone. I just want that milestone to apply to all slaves, not some of them.

Avoid areas that are celebrating.
