I’m in my car so I can’t really look it up, who is the guy that did all this training to swim over Niagara Falls, did it, and then just died instantly? I remember seeing a documentary on it and there were videos of him practicing swimming over waterfalls that were like 10 feet tall, and this dude thought he could just swim over Niagara
I think maybe they never even found his body, but it’s on video

Don't go chasing waterfalls
Please stick to the rivers and the lakes that you're used to

Do waterfalls often empty onto rocks? I would think the crashing water would erode the rocks and typical result in a pool of water.

Can't blame someone for jumping down a waterfall with these guys chasing them.

I'm sure when you're about to go over a waterfall these techniques will come to mind.....

Don't look now, but when I made this post, the "How to survive a plunge down a waterfall" thread was right below the chinese dam failure thread....

This is crazy....everyone knows you have to keep swimming against the current to slow your fall.

The wall of the waterfall is constantly eroding and dropping a pile of rocks at the bottom. Here's a picture of Niagara last time it was damned up.

Constantly dropping a pile of rocks?
When was the last time it damned up? I don’t see a waterfall?

A cofferdam was built across the Niagara river in 1969. The falls were dried up so work could be done to remove the talus accumulation at the bottom of the falls.

How do you swim away before hitting the water?
