I agree. On the 3 lane sections, limit trucks to the right two lanes.
We have shitty infrastructure with very little operational redundancy. When those things crash, they close the whole road for hours.

Seriously if you want to improve Louisiana's interstate system then support Trump's tax reform and infrastructure plan.
Under the tax reform plan corporate tax rates will be reduced to 15% and I'm hearing proposal that overseas corporate profits will have the ability to be repatriated at a 0% rate if those dollars are invested in federal bonds where the money is appropriated for infrastructure improvements. They are talking about an infrastructure plan of $1 Trillion (on top of what we spend now) over 10 years. That's $100 billion per year. In the scheme of the federal budget $100 billion is only ~2.5% of the current budget. We should be able to grow our GDP higher than 2.5% if congress gets off their arse and passes some of these reforms.
Given the fact that there is and estimated $2.5 to $5 Trillion in corporate profits parked overseas to avoid our currently massive corporate tax rates the infrastructure bill can easily pay for itself if that money coming home is used to purchase treasury bonds appropriated for federal infrastructure projects.
That's how Louisiana (and other states) get more funding for interstate highways without putting too much stress on their own budget.

Wow responses all over the place on this.
I drive about 30,000 miles a year for work, the vast majority of that between BR and Lake Charles. This is how I got the basis of the idea.

We need turnpikes. The way they do it up in penn. They know how long it takes to get from one point to another. You moving to quick across that thing? Automatic ticket.

Stop allowing politicians and CEO's to steal all of the tax revenue.
What happened to all the Casino money that was going to schools and roads ? I-20 through Shreveport is an embarrassment to the entire US.

That's been the law for 30 years. All vehicles must stay in the right lane except to pass.

I love that excuse the NFL and other professional sports use to take the taxpayer to the cleaners. Tell us it is going to increase tax revenue to offset what a local and state gives up. Yeah, Juan and Jamal that brings me a beer and peanuts is really pumping up tax revenue.

Do they still have tollbooths at the state lines? I remember noticing they seemed to only have them at the borders meaning most cross state traffic pays whereas local traffic flows for free.
I'd love to see that on I10 and I20.

Tolls, tickets, and seatbelt, brake tag checkpoints.
You know for "safety".
Also, you can just call in a drug task force. They may or may not find drugs, but they will find every piece of jewelry and electronics, and every dollar in every car they stop and seize it as drug paraphernalia.. I imagine this would raise quite a bit of money for the state.

Make the multi-billionaire and richest man in Louisiana, Tom Benson, pay back the $400 million he has raped from LA tax payers just to stay in Nola!

Here's a novel idea: how about monetizing cannabis like most of the country & earmark the billions $$ for infrastructure & education?

One problem is when they slow down. Takes a while to get back up to speed, a domino effect.

This post is downright retarded. I'm no lawyer, but I'm pretty sure a parish does not have the right to force traffic off of a federal interstate and onto a state highway.
State and local governments have jurisdiction over the use and regulation of Interstates within their borders

And not a fricking chance that another parish has the right or capability to pay another parish to perform this illegal act
What? Of course they do. Neighboring parishes/counties contract all the time for a variety of things.

cops just follow you around and ticket you every time you violate even the slightest road law?
Ruston cops already doing that along I-20. We've got trucks coming by to pick up limbs a couple of times a week. Everyone has their own garbage and recycle bins. Great schools. New businesses moving in every week. Nice place to live!
You out-of-towners keep speeding now.
