Your mother is a manipulator.
So is my father.
That's why I no longer deal with my father.

Also, I get this a lot.

quote:

Think about where you’ll be 12yrs after (his) passing… what you might regret or wish you’d done differently.

My answer is alway the same.
I saw my father traipsing around with his pre-selected "girlfriend" while my Mom was dying in the hospital. He would disappear for days at a time.
After Mom passed he had the unmitigated gall to tell me that I had abandoned her when she needed me, while in fact I saw her everyday.

He can rot....

Tell her you traveled with your dad because he always paid for it.

I'll be honest, I'm not a fan of this narrative. I'm in a situation with mine that is somewhat similar and for the life of me I can't figure out why I let it progress as far as it has. Why should we be treated like shite by the people who love us and be ok with it. Being a parent does not give a person a free pass to treat the other like absolute crap. Especially the people who are suppose to love us unconditionally. Why is it OK and we just go "oh well, that's just how it is". It's not right.
