Between some of the threads here and on the Poli Board, I would say not very although most like to claim they are.

I took it while drunk at the age of 17 (h.s. jr.) back when it was required to take it but regardless of score still get into any LA state university.

First time I took the ACT I was hungover and fell asleep about an hour into it and scored a 12. My parents were deeply concerned for my future. They were ready to enroll me in special classes.

Second time I scored a 28.

The funniest thing I ever saw was my wife's younger brother score a 19 on his ACT and he was a Ben Franklin high school graduate. Stepfather was loaded and the secular humanist moron wanted to go to public school instead of Country Day like his step siblings and sister had.

Wife threw away that report out of embarrassment that her brother was so dumb when everyone thought he was smart. Since his mother was on the board of Newcomb (as an alum) of course he was accepted to Tulane where he flunked out quickly

in my day practice ACTs or taking it multiple times wasn't a thing, not knocking it, I had no prep, the night before I took it cold turkey I scored 26 points in a hs basketball game, scored after the game with one of our cheerleaders, and had the better portion of a case of beer throughout the evening, 34

Jokes on you. Standardized knowledge tests are not a good measure of intelligence so whatever point you make is moot

If those tests actually addressed “horsepower” between the ears average scores would be much much different

Of my high school graduating class, the classmates most successful in life just worked harder in college and afterwards. They were not the "smartest" in grades or standardized testing, above average was about it
