As someone with ties to the Scientology church, it's a ridiculous concept, but they are damn good at making money.

No, not serious.. but i have met a couple of $cientologists , and interestingly, both were very successful, extremely self-motivated type people.. one even invited me to an intro session, which i politely declined.. i think these particular people would have been successful anyway, even without $cientology, .. and i used to think it was a harmless, ‘whatever gets you through the day’ type of religion- but you cant look away anymore from the destruction theyve caused in peopel’s lives.

I've been to a few missions, stayed in the mansion of a chapter leader, read through some of their internal procedures & protocols, and so on.

The mansion was the best. Imagine going to a wealthy relative's home where instead of family portraits on the walls, you just see scenes from the Hubbard books

Leah Remini did a whole episode of her show about it. Apparently there's zero life outside of Scientology. If you live there and aren't a Scientologist, they ignore you.

Scientology should be disbanded. It won’t because of the 1st amendment, but it’s clearly a cult and shady organization.

You only own what you can defend. Round up the homeless from a bunch of cities and dump them all in Clearwater and see how the Hubbtards deal with them

Homeless are easily manipulated. They'd brainwash them and turn them into foot soldiers.

We can't give them an army.

Sounds like there needs to be an old fashioned Revival in Clearwater done by Reverend Creedence because there's definitely a Bad Moon Rising.

I’m personally not involved, but people join for various reasons. The smart ones join for a job.

And if they have an army they represent an existential threat and can be dealt with militarily. Like we did with the Hari Krishnas

Sometimes these types of people are the ones most easily manipulated.

"Success guilt" makes people so goofy things, too.

Hubbard found the easiest to prey on, when he got the Celebutards hooked. Very dumb people.

Meh. It should certainly lose its tax exempt status but beyond that who gives a shite.

Reading L.Ron's Wikipedia about his failed naval carreer. Quite interesting.
It stated having been given a second chance at a command, he proceeded on a shakedown cruise to mistakenly shell part of the Mexican coastline.

The Church of Scientology and companies run by its members spent $103 million over the past three years buying up vast sections of downtown Clearwater. "

I'm thinking more than 103 million would be needed to aquire "vast sections" of Clearwater.
