You know, the ones who wade through patients' shite and urine, give the nasty folk a bath, and are getting no recognition right now.
Why are we selective with our heroism?

Does the term "health care workers" not include them?
True story - when I had my transplant and was in ICU, then stepdown, then a regular hospital room, I was very grateful to all of the doctors, nurses and staff, but I told them that my favorite of all of them was the lady who brought the crushed ice before I could start drinking liquids again.

There are a lot of techs refusing to care for Covid patients across the county... not exactly heroism.
Many hospital employees in low paid positions are quitting their jobs to reduce their chance of exposure.

The ppl we should acknowledge are the custodial staff at homeless hotels.
Working same shite hourly rate.
Nasty arse homeless are gross.
No tips like normal guests leave.
I really feel they need recognition.

Most hospitals are not allowing CNA's to work COVID units to minimize exposure so the RN is doing everything withot assistance. They are not allowing house keeping, food service etc. in the rooms, it all falls on the RN.

I've seen a number of posts and such about remembering these workers.
Yours really is another one, but I can understand people not liking the way you did it.

I'm a little confused by this. I don't mean to be poopooing on your story. Just not sure how ice is different from liquids in this situation.
Just curious.
Eta: I got some good answers. I appreciate y'all. I honestly didn't know the answer. Thanks for the responses.
