Plenty of people want to.

Bull shite. I know at least ten guys who are LEO, and zero fit either of those descriptions
Same here, and from several different departments, some big some smaller. Most are pretty laid back, can only think of one that fits the gun-ho, I could see was possibly a bully in the past but overall he’s a nice guy, but I can see how he could possibly lose his shite. The rest of them are cool as hell, most cops I know don’t give a shite about your weed and shite like that. I’ve only talked to 2 about this incident in Minneapolis and they were horrified as much as all of us
And come to think of it, I worked a call with the one I could see losing his shite not long ago. Black guy who was “mentally off” actually started spitting on me and tried to scratch me while taking his blood sugar. That fricker cop didn’t do shut to try and help me, texted me later, “sorry hadn’t had coffee yet, hell, he got spit on and cussed out also by same guy. Just walked off

Because it’s something you have a passion for??? You can’t be doing it for the pay, right? I imagine that it can be a rewarding job and it’s not the same mundane 9 to 5. You really never know what’s gonna happen when you go to work. My job is routine and boring, but it pays well. I can see why a lot of people would like to be a cop, but it has to be tough for the ones who really care about the community they serve.

So who takes their place?

was your typical high school bully. They enjoyed it so much that they carry it into adult hood. To them, actually getting paid to harass people is a dream come true.
The second, more dangerous, type was the one that received the bullying growing up. Walking around with a gun and a badge alleviates their crippling inferiority complex.
Wtf kind of ignorant dumb shite is this. Guarantee you don’t actually have a friend who is a cop and I would also bet you’ve spent your fair share of time behind bars. Former cop here. Don’t fit any of these random genres that you tried fitting. Your not even good at it tbh

From the ones I know they are all young, most have college degrees but some just a 2 year degree, some 4. So still young, wanna help, they don’t get prepared by the departments at all when being hired on the actual shite you have to do. It’s the cops that are there 10 years later that have put up with shite after shite all their careers get burned out. They think they are fine and can handle it for awhile but eventually no longer can.
I work alongside them, seeing them get cussed out on a daily basis before they even get out of their cars, threatened, spit on, lied to, and always being filmed. All day everyday. When you’re 22 you shrug your shoulders and go on, by the time your 32, it can eat at you.
Just like being a medic or fireman, the bad calls are “awesome” at first. Over the years they can wear you down. Now you’re 30 something, burned out, and have no skills In anything else except, paramedic, fire science, criminal justice, but changing careers none of that’s gonna help
ETA: I don’t regret my career at all, but I can understand burnout. Now that shite in Minny was shear stupidity and not giving a shite, murder

I'm as law-abiding as they come, hoss. As a former cop, that probably irks you something terrible.

That want to do good, save lives and make a difference in the world.
Save lives through no-knock raids, excessive use of force, lying on reports to create probable cause, etc.
We should all get on our knees and worship our boys in blue!
The undeserving hero worship cops gets is laughable. There needs to be serious reform and accountability.

I have not seen or heard anything about what happened in the time before we saw that man being pinned down next to the car. Did he resist?????? Or did the cops just take it upon themselves to treat him as hostile. This will be a very important thing through the investigation. However, what I saw was just plain murder by that cop.

Had a buddy from HS who went to college for a while...hated studying so he quit school and got on the local force (this was in mid 90s). Did it for 2 years. Got shot at twice and multiple times had to arrest idiots who resisted and fought back or took off running with him chasing them through backyards and whatnot. Got cussed out lots of times. Spit on by some woman he was trying to talk down from stabbing her dog.
Said it wasn't worth the money/benefits. Not even close.

Any police officer that does anything more than take a report is looking for trouble.

Google "George Floyd surveillance cameras."

If Americans wanted anything more than a report taker for the insurance company, they would pay extra.

Dont see how him ressisting the cops, or what he may have done before beibg pinned down is relavent at all. He was already on the ground, cuffed, and no longer resisting after which the cop was on his neck for 8 full minutes.

Why don’t you just show them to us.

I really don’t see much of that anymore.

I don’t disagree with this. 8 mins is a long time.... this was just a plain killing.....

have several friends and acquaintances who are LEO. All of them are severely pissed at these dumbasses in Minnesota, and not one of them is defending what happened in any way.

But. What happened before will be brought up. I have no clue. But if he resisted then he should have been put in the cop car when you have 4 officers around..... what happened once he was on the ground was just not right.
