This is kind of my point.
Did you do the testing with the radioactive decay of uranium or did you at least take the results and do the math yourself or do you just believe someone else's test?
This is just a cop out. There are people who have studied and devoted their careers to measuring these things. It takes many years to become an expert. Life is too short to learn and do everything yourself. However, I know enough to understand how the methods work and accept their findings.
I know that some will scoff at the word expert. However, that is what they are. There is nothing preventing you from doing what it takes to become one and do the measurements yourself. The methods are there to be learned.

This is what I have been waiting for. A true lunatic to enter the arena.
I only wish you had gotten in this thread sooner.
It took a few days, I was about to give up on this thread.
There was semi intelligent discussion until he showed up.

It is unknown. The decay rate of isotopes or whatever has been going on for about 100 years. That is too thin a slice to extrapolate a few billion years. It is not as scientific as you think.

I mean not really. Every counter argument to the idea that the earth is billions of years old boiled down to

What if God created earth to look older than what it is?
What if God's creation was running smoothly and the the Devil came along and tried top appropriate God's worshippers for his own?
What would this look like?
I would look for things that would go against the Law - especially the first ten or so.
I would look for things like names, other than God's, being placed above or at the same level as God. And maybe look for idols or graven images of things supposed to be in Heaven. I would also look for things like forgetting the Sabbath, and not keeping it holy. And then I'm sure the Devil would come up with all kinds of arcane language or twists of logic to rationalize these seeming breaks with the Commandments.
That Devil's crafty, he didn't get to be so old by being stupid.

So let me get this straight. A powerful evil entity just comes and screws with us to get us not to believe in his pop.
His dad, who keep in mind, is all powerful and can do whatever in the frick he wants. Is just like nah it's cool let see if they believe it or not.
No offense but your god sounds like a douchebag.

Yeah, that's pretty much his job these days.

Well, yeah, that's why he gave his followers free will. Without that, they're not much for worshippers if they have no choice.

Job didn't think so, in spite of all the bad shite that came down on him.
But check this out:
quote:
I am Yahweh your God...You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourselves an idol, nor any image of anything that is in the heavens above
Next thing you know, this happens...?
Then Ol' Huge goes on to say...
quote:
Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Next thing you know, there's this...?
I'd at least start being wary.

Curious, how did you come to the conclusion to nullify isotope decay rate long term accuracy?
Coefficient of decay changes beyond range of 100 years…why dat is in your presumed estimation?

Just dropped a fat bookmark on this thread.
Got through the first few pages whilst high the other night, but now it looks like I got more to sink my teeth in to.

quote:No it's not. There are many different isotopes in use, with a wide variety of measurement ranges, many of which overlap. How would it be that cross-checking samples with different methods give the same results? Except for the obvious answer that decay rates have been constant for at least as many billions of years that can be cross-checked.
