1 year salary.
3 months to travel with the wife and kids in the summer. 3 months to do a bunch of shite around the house I want to do. Then 3 months to find a new job. The rest would go to paying off some shite.

if i don't move to indiana next year, they're paying me 2 weeks for every year i've been here. come august 2020, i'll be getting 2*8.75 weeks of pay.

I'd quit for a hell of a lot less than that. If they gave me 50k today to walk I would. I'd take a month off and then go find another job.
Well, not $50k, but 1 year's salary should get it done. Like you said, a nice 1 month off to do nothing. Then find another job doing the same thing I'm doing and almost double my salary for 1 year...sign me up.
This may be the only time that I actually would not do that as I just started a new job less than 1 month ago. And nothing is ever guaranteed, but it has a shite ton of potentials and both VPs I report to have already outlined the positions they want to move me into in the future, so I may just need 2-3 years salary to offset that at the moment.

Two years pay in one lump, and I retire tomorrow.

Three years pay, and I’m out!

I did. I'd need almost $4,000,000 to quit my job today to carry me through to when I begin collecting social security.

Oh well I'm in the same boat as you.
I think most people are assuming they get paid and then go get the same job with another company.
Not so much when you're self employed.
