How much time do you spend on the phone at work?

Over or under 3 hours

Waaaaaay under, most of my job sites I’m lucky to have 1 bar of signal, phone calls are a rarity

Over, most of the time.
Having a job that involves running batch processes or setting up testing leads to a lot of down time.
Running bills or printing letters, even in a test environment, potentially means hours before the process completes and you can inspect the one thing you are looking for.
It isn’t helped by having certain processes that only run at three certain times a day and, if you miss a cutoff, you are waiting 2-4 hours, if not to the next business day, to get things moved between test environments.

Way under - a few minutes at best and most correspondence is by email.

3hrs/day or week?
Regardless, under if leaving out conference calls during a normal week.
Boat load of emails, and yes, I still am able to meet people in person.

Zero - all communication is done by e-mail

The phone is still the best way to get business done.

I’ve been incredibly suprised since Apple started giving me weekly screen times. I consider it a challenge to beat my previous weeks numbers.

Yeah. I’m a big star on my phone sometimes with the amount of screen time I get.

My times always go up during football season. I read so many damn articles on the game. If I applied this amount of time to work, I’d be a millionaire.

Why don’t you apply yourself?
Posted on 10/20/19 at 2:20 pm to tuptiger
As little as possible. I reply lightning fast to emails, and I reply via email to specific issues left in my voicemail instead of calling them back.. so it has "trained" most people to always email me first.
I will never understand calling someone to ask about something they need to be in front of a computer to answer. Especially calling them and then just leaving a VM that says "Hi, call me back. I have a question." and not giving the question.

Couple hours a day, depending on how the day is going.
We are a resource for the hospital. Nurses and doctors are calling us for immediate answers....they usually don’t have time to send emails and wait for a reply. We also have an on call phone for after office hours that one of us carries at all times.
Public health also calls us frequently to follow up on patients we are mandated to report to them for various communicable diseases and STDs
