EBR Parish is going to absolutely vote against an ISD.

StG needs to take advantage of a Rispone Administration and GOP (for real) legislature to bypass the parish.

Using the word “now” threw me off

But yes, it’s a big part of St George being formed but who knows what will happen in the future

Millsaps is a private and is fairly small. Same with Belhaven.

Jackson State is so bad that a grad from there sued and got the entrance requirements to better schools like Ole Miss reduces by claiming that attending JSU denied him an education.

U of M medical center? Good but I am talking undergrad rather than graduate facilities.

My point is that the public schools there are so bad they literally hurt the other schools in the state via court case while the private schools are pretty insignificant overall.

Yea I meant now, as in a result of the vote yesterday. Not now as in today.

So is Jackson not the central hub for, “higher education” in central MS? I’m not sure what you’re trying to argue here. It’s not like I called Jackson a place with great undergrad opportunities...

what they need to do is wait a year or so, get some good will, and then push a constitutional amendment to change the constitutional requirements

Is there higher education there? Yes. Would I consider it a hub? Not necessarily.

Do you consider the area covering Monroe, Ruston, and Grambling to be a hub for higher education in North Louisiana? Of those, LA Tech has a good reputation but nowhere near on par with LSU, ULM has some decent programs and is otherwise unimpressive, and Grambling is the drizzling shits.

It’s the hub “of that area”. I also would t call Tech, “nowhere near on par”, but anyways this really doesn’t make any difference in the point here.

Nah. The shitty areas will stay shitty. Nicer areas like where I live will continue to be nice. We wont just let our neighborhood become Haiti because of a line in the sand

The whole state has to vote and most of it doesn't give a shite about St George. They'll vote yes in case they need the favor returned someday

I don’t see them catching Jackson, but not through a lack of effort.

I hear Bocage is trying to annex into St George.

That would totally not surprise me.

It's not about a line in the sand or a geographic location, it's about the people that will get elected in the City of BR, the appointees that they will put in place, and the policies they will implement.

I just got back from the Florida game. That was the first time I've been in Baton Rouge in four years.

First, on a big game day, Baton Rouge is one of my favorite cities in the States. It truly is incredible. I love everything about it.

Alternatively, that still isn't near enough to keep me there, and I can't imagine living there the other 358 or so days a year. The city appears to be even more substandard than the last time I was there.

It's also pretty damn dirty - everywhere. There is trash, litter, and grime all over the city.

If you remember Back to the Future 2 and they come back in the alternate 1985. That is or will be Baton Rouge in a nutshell.

so many baton rouge city parish employees saying "enjoy your tax increase" SG people. Lol none of the ones I've seen say this even live in the parish. At least we still will be supporting EBR.

People keep forgetting the ISD isn’t a given. That has to be voted on as well & I think it’s either a Parish or statewide vote. Yikes.

Nobody is going to deny these good citizen’s children an education.

Well, there is one demographic that will. But, they aren’t old enough to vote yet.
