I could probably make around the ballpark of what I am making now with any big company.

I would sad $100,000 so I can take a few months off.

if i had "retirement money" (Which isn't big, maybe $2M) i don't know if i'd quit. i'd just charge ridiculously low rates for people who need help in the legal system and who are ripe to be taken advantage of by sharks in the field

Currently looking. I'd quit for just a few days off between jobs.

Maybe $250k. I enjoy my job & don't really feel like looking for a new one

I don't think that would touch it for me. I love my job and I am first line to buy the company I work for once the owner is ready to retire.

Lame attempt at humor. I guess you didn't bother to read the actual amount posted:

50k

Are you disputing the fact that $50k is an annual bonus? I would guess a good bit of the posters here get that. Hell, I got close to that 2 years ago and have a good chance at it for this year. I don't even have a great job.

Interesting question. I have been testing the job market since the start of the year to see what's out there and I have only receive one call back so far. And I have great job security right now.
So you combine those two and it'd have to be a lot of money, probably at least 4 years worth of compensation.

At this point in my life, I think a million would be enough for me to sustain a decent life.

I would walk away from the private sector, and straight into the retirement sector.

$1M. That would be the minimum I could live off of the rest of my life. I would probably use about $400k to spend so I will only have monthly bills such as cell phone, cable, utilities, gas, groceries then I would put $600k into some type of little risk investment. I could draw $3000 a month for 17 years, but I would consider opening up something like a snowball stand which I could probably pay back the amount of money I borrowed from myself in two years, at the max.. That would also generate a little profit...
