He's a solid anchor / reporter who worked at NBC news for a while in addition to local news.
Maybe he wants to move back to Atlanta.
I'm just curious how lucrative these things can be, that you can quit your job to make them. He's a good enough reporter to go to a bigger market or back to national, if he just wanted a bigger gig.

Depends on how popular you are, several probably make a great living because of the amount of people. Same as an Instagram "influencer"

So if we put our efforts together... we can make 10s of dollars?

I know I'm feeding the NOLA troll... but what don't you like about him?

Like anything else it can range drastically and most people make next to nothing doing Podcast. However, in order to make a living off of it the magic number is a consistent 10,000 downloads/streams per episode.
Once you crack that 10,000 number that’s when doors start opening for affiliate programs and sponsorships. Also, with Patreon you can expect approximately 2% of your listeners to join there as well (at anywhere from $5-10 per month).
Basically you have to be consistent, have grade A quality content, and be willing to grind it out. 10,000 consistent downloads/streams per episode will put you in that $75k-$125k expected earnings range.

Just very dry, no personality, no tits or arse. Pretty much just bland and boring.

I assume the podcast is free to download, right? So is this income coming from advertising on the podcast? Selling commercial time, etc?

Two girls I'm friends with have been doing a sports and dating podcast for over 2 years. They had seatgeek do one small advertising plan with them and then bitty boomers did an affiliate deal with them...I think that's about it. Neither of them is hurting for money.
Podcast is funny though.

Competition is heavy in the true crime market. You have to think it is just about saturated to the point that anything new is just another podcast now.
It would have to be something different and a high quality production to gain traction in the true crime genre of podcasting these days.

I've always wondered the same thing. The good ones put out one a week and they say it takes 40 to 50 hours per episode. I know there are some advertising involved but is it enough to make a living.

Yeah, you can make a living. Some make a good living. Primary revenue sources are advertisement and endorsement income. Also, "Insider" type memberships can bring consistent income, be it from Patreon or even a platform managed by the podcaster. Branded merchandise is another way many podcasters bring in money.
It is a job and not always an easy one. To produce a good product you have to put in the work and effort. Networking with fans is a nonstop endeavor, but is necessary to grow the project. Simply recording, editing, and uploading will only get you so far. The podcast has to be marketed constantly.
That said, the podcasting boom is an example of a "grassroots" industry that has grown into a monster. Just look at the number of shows popping up that are linked to major networks. Many more people are employed in podcasting than you would think. Everything from producers/engineers to editors and researchers. Alot of people are drawing a check off of the podcast business.

im guessing Bill Burr makes 7 figures a year, and Rogan probably 8 figures a year from podcasting (including YouTube video of podcast). Not sure about the smaller podcasts.
