$7715 annually in my area (K-12). Is that cheap, average, or on the high end? My folks were poor and the public schools were great where I grew up so I don't know anything about private schools other than they recruit athletes.

Tuition and fees for me is about 6500 for a 7th grader..goes up every year they just make up a new fee. I think this year it was the "technology fee" but they have had the same computers at the school for at least 5 years..

Twins going into the 6th grade next year. The public schools are fine, but I feel as though they may have better opportunities at the private school. The price in the op is K-12.

In Houston, Catholic grade schools average about $6,500. Most of the non-Catholic private grade schools are between $15,000-$20,000...which is crazy.

For Catholic high schools, Strake Jesuit is around $19,000 and St Thomas is around $16,000...these are all boys schools...St Agnes (all girls) is $17,000.

Non-Catholic private high schools like St Johns, Kinkaid and Episcopal are all north of $24,000.

Thanks. Guess I'm getting a deal as this is a non-catholic school. Now I just wonder if it's worth it because nothing is wrong with the public schools here.

Be careful with the selection of private schools. Some well funded public schools offer better programs than private school. Some public schools will pay teachers better than the private schools and require higher forms of education/certification than comparable private schools.

I taught at a private catholic high school for a few years and can tell you firsthand that "Private does not always mean better"...

You'll hear a lot of anti-common core banter on the OT but my kids are receiving a great education from a top notch public school district here in Louisiana.

If your kid is decent at sports, send him to a public school.

If the public schools in your area are good, then go that route. Teachers at private schools are not required to be certified and make less than a public school teacher...which means they draw bottom of the barrel talent.

Take all of that into account.

I think you are quoting tuition with boarding for the first two.
