I just got in trouble on Facebook by a casual racing fan for saying secretariat was meh as a stallion but did turn out to be a decent broodmare sire.

Really? Also, they said they will continue to race him up to next year. Hope he races at the Breeders Cup at Keeneland. It will be absolutely nuts in November if he races.

Secretariat produced some 600 foals and they did nothing of note you are correct. What's funny is the offspring of his daughters actually turned out to be really great. He was a great damsire. Breeding horses is funny business.

Big red really wadr not a good sire and he got the best of the best. He didnt.throw speed all his.horses would run forever but were not particularly fast. He sired a few. Risen star, terlaunga who is storm cats momma. He sired landolucie who was probably his best but she died too early

The guy jumped my case big time when I suggested he wasn't a stand out except as a broodmare sire.
