No, they still have to put them down depending on where the break is. Even if they fix the break you have to worry about laminitis from the weight not being evenly distributed on all 4 feet.
Some breaks heal (got my horse with a fractured leg) and some don't. Some have complications (Barbaro).
Hell, one was put down on the track today in an undercard race at Belmont.
