How much do you tip the bartender at a wedding reception where you're a guest?

I'm heading to a reception tonight and don't want the bartender to be thrifty with the spirits since the fathers of the brides are paying for it.

Don't you hate weddings with cash bars! Chinchy arse cheap frickers.

So does this mean that the bride has two fathers that are gay?
Or does it mean that the couple getting married is a lesbian couple?

Just throw a 10 in the bucket and make sure they see you. You’ll be hammered by the time the cake is cut.

Yep, and neither one looks the part.

Pretty much. Just drop in a 10, make some small talk, and you will be covered for the rest of the night for sure.

Best way to do it. Start a casual conversation. Slip them a 20 and tell them they'll be seeing you alot.
By the end of the night you'll be get straight whiskeys instead of whiskey cokes.

This. Although sometimes I'll go $10 early depending on the size of the crowd or what I'm drinking. If he does a good job I'll go $5 or $10 more later. The key is good tip early so he'll remember you and you're gravy the rest of the night.

If it is open bar I give the bartender I plan on going back to a $20 tip on my first order. That usually guarantees strong pours and priority service when crowded.

Or just order whiskey on the rocks, it is a bar after all...
