I know we will have some people come in here beating their chest claiming they work 60 hours a week. I didn't ask how long you were there. I asked how much work you do?

During busy season, public accounting - audit, I'm really only at work for 24-30 hours during the week. I'm actually working probably 55-60 hours.

Non busy season that drops tremendously to...rough guess....30-35 hours of real output.

Retired now, but when I was working I was dealing with e-mails, phone calls or in meetings pretty much all day except for lunch.

Depends. Busy season, all day long, cook/eat dinner, back down to my home office for ~2 hours every single weekday.

Not busy season, a lot of my job is needs-based with some monthly and annual projects thrown in randomly. In Jan, Feb, March, I do a whole lot less than the spring, summer, and fall. But it evens out.

There’s different ways to define work. Whether you are tapping at a keyboard or turning a wrench for 8 hours straight every day, I consider both work. Both are a grind.

Then there are those that only “work” for 2-3 hours a day, and mess around the rest of the time. I’ve experienced both.

However, I’m now closing in on 50 yo, and I can’t quantify how much I actually work. At least couple of hours of grinding everyday, but then there’s another 10+ hours everyday of teaching, training, thinking, meetings, reviewing, lunching, and worrying.

I used to work circles around most if not all my coworkers, only to have them laugh and say stupid shite like " they aint gonna pay you no more". When i got fired for yelling at one of those dumb fricks, after 5 years, 3 promotions, and being the only person in the union to get a merit raise, i decided frick all yall.. im retiring ar 38. All modern " workers" know how to do is bitch about what they dont have and how much they dont make. It never occurs to them to actually WORK towards improvement.

Retired.

Work when i wanna.

When i was still choosing to be employed i worked ~12hrs shifts ~17days a month.

Was dependant on the calls for service load.

As a lower level guy(1994)i dont remember it being as busy as it was when i retired.

We were hoofing it when dope(meth)became really bad.

I work enough to excel. I haven't really thought in hours since I had to record them which was maybe 17 years ago.

I do the job I'm paid for and nothing else unless there is an issue, then I will deal with that.

I have learned you are no more appreciated for extra effort than when you don't.

I bust arse all day, usually work through lunch and do about half as many hours in paperwork in my "off time".

I work my arse off. Some of it is my coworkers slacking, some people not showing up for work, and some just the job itself. I work hard everyday. I’m extremely busy and never sit down. My job requires patience.

1-2hrs a day..

If that somedays. Sometimes I just get up, check emails in the morning and sleep all day.

Edt: Now, rarely.. sometimes things get busy (new projects).

I could do more but I'm lazy and comfortable with $160/yr.
