It would vary per yard size. 3 dollars for a small 5 for a larger. No weedeaters back then, had to rake clippings if I missed a week due to baseball. Seems hotter now than back then, still mow my yard. Pay comes a little different now.

Parents didn’t pay me, but every now and then I’d cut my uncle’s grass and he’d give me $20. A couple times in high school he would give me a 12 pack of bud heavy from his fridge instead. I preferred the money

I got $2.00 for a regular yard and $5.00 for a corner lot back in the late 60's and early 70's.

late 90’s.

my parent’s yard - $0
Grandmaw’s House in Broadmoor - $30
Grandmaw’s 4 neighbors in Broadmoor - $40

We’re talking full service tho. Mow, weedeat, and a lot of sidewalk and driveway edging, blow, and then RoundUp for some yards.

Then I got a real job when I was 16. I enjoyed mowing lawns more tho.

15-20 in the late 90s. None for my own.

I had some kid last year ask if he could cut my grass for the summer. I was intrigued by his work ethic so I heard him out and asked what he would charge. $75 he said. My yard isn't that big (takes me just over an hour to push and weed eat) and he was gonna charge that to ride around on his dad's zero turn. I kinda chuckled and told him I'd rather save the money and wished him good luck.

Yep. But we cut several of the neighbors yards. Parents didn't pay me anything.

Used to get 4-5 cents a bale hauling hay. That was hellacious work.

I washed cars, easier work, made $5 a car. When I turned 16 I got my first job.

$20 was a basic cut a trim. If I'm breaking out edger, hedge trimmers and rake, $40. This was 1990-2000 Prairieville price. Used to cut half of Rhonda place and Bon Lieu with one of my friends from down the street...
Had a good run in middle school through highschool. So much I wanted to start my own yard business. Then I got shite on "you can't make a living cutting grass.. so I quit. Then the housing boom hit ascension and I was on the outside looking in. FML

$10-20. I did really well with the paper route I had. I started with just my neighborhood and picked up the neighborhood across the highway and a FILTHY RICH neighborhood later. Back then I used to knock on doors to collect. Many lonely housewives used to open the door in their bra & panties,or naked, "come on in,let me get your money" got laid a lot with delivering the paper.

not jack shite, me and 2 younger brothers cut the family’s 5 acres with two 18” push mowers, took hours, cousins across the street cut their yard in one hour on riding lawnmower and self propelled 24” cutter,
dad’s answer to our plea was, “why should I buy a riding mower when I have 3 mules to pull the wagon, bs, bs, bs...”
dad called me within 2 weeks of the youngest brother leaving for college, “I just bought a 25hp Kubota, double bladed 54” cut with umbrella and lights if I want to cut at night when its too hot, bs, bs, bs...”
I hung up on him, then reminded him of his answer to our plea when he called back.
AND that is why I gladly pay the going rate plus tip each week...

You and me, both. Especially proud to be able to help out my grandparents. I wasn't told to do it, I just did it.

In the early 60's .50 to 1.00 for neighbors yards. Of course you couldn't eat .25 of candy, popcorn and coke at the drive in movies.
