That’s the thing young guys with no family can build up experience for a resume and make some good money but it’s not sustainable for a family man. Well if you want to to be a good family man. To each their own but I couldn’t do that.

You're full of it and making excuses. I make the drive a hour each way and have 3 small children and my wife works. Stop making excuses because you're scared, lazy or couldn't get hired.

And hour each way and you have to be there for 4-5. So you’re driving the the wildlife refuge at 3, half asleep. You’ll get him 6-7 pm and in before for 8-830 so you can wake up at 2. No f’ing thanks.

I have an undergraduate, graduate and work in a plant. I do pretty dang good.
Say what you will but you won't find the same level of benefits and pay in the US outside maybe big tech. Then you still have a sky high COL.
If you're knocking down $200-250K in south LA while working at "the plant" its is a much better living than 97% of people.
