How many times have you gone home and watched what you filmed?

...instead of enjoying a live event? Do you really go home and watch the low quality, grainy video you filmed instead of enjoying yourself during a great moment?

This.

In an incredible feat of dexterity and skill, I managed to film a few of the songs and the crowd, AND managed to enjoy the song, AND I got high quality videos on my phone too.

Amazing what these new phones can do. Get off the iPhone 3GS and you’ll know.

My wife and I had this conversation on the way home, too many people attend events to get themselves social media cred, no one else cares that you were there and you’ll never go rewatch those videos. Put your phone down and enjoy the moment.

Your loss, I’ll always have that ultra zoomed in video clip of Garth singing Callin Baton Rouge to remember the best and most awe-inspiring musical production I’ve ever experienced!

I think I took one picture the entire time, and that was before the concert.

When all the phone lights lit up was pretty cool though

Filming a song or two at a concert is one thing but my favorite is people who film fire work shows. I guarantee you nobody watches that shite ever again

My kids wanted to see some of the pics and videos I took. So if for no other reason than that, I’m okay with my choice to film about 5% of the concert.

Why does this bother people?

People who want to take a picture or video everything that goes on around them is a pet peeve of mine.

There are a lot of times, after the fact, I think "I wish I would have taken a picture of that or videoed this". But if I record something or take a picture its usually to text to someone because I know they would appreciate it or get a good laugh out of it. Other than that I think its weird when people are always recording or taking videos.

The people who do this don't do it to actually watch and enjoy later, they do it so they can send to their friends and post on social media so they can get a highly coveted virtual "like" by letting people know how much fun they're having.

Social media has really warped an entire generations mind. Kinda scary.

I was at the Joshua Tree Tour in 1986 and while I’d kill for vid clips of the show, the memory is far greater

Always after checking knuckles at Sonic.

Being serious, I love using a GoPro while bass fishing so I can share those moments with other people.

This may seem weird but we enjoy it. About once a month we will take an evening with some good beer or Scotch and put a slideshow of one of our vacations up on the TV and just sit back relax and relive it. It is amazing how much we remember and how those images and videos take us right back to the moment. The immersion level is so much higher than turning the pages of a photo album for people that remember those.

Just got back from Vegas about a month ago. Been there more times than I can remember. Went with people that had never been, so I showed them the major sites. Belligio fountains are worth seeing, but I'm always amazed at the hundreds of phones being held up, with the people holding them watching the phone screen while recording.
