Agree on Rushmore and Western South Dakota. The scale of Rushmore is undeniably impressive though, everyone that has the means to do so should get up there once.

If they'd ever finish it the Crazy Horse memorial would make Rushmore look lame.

Dumb question, but I am not a biker because I'm a pussy Momma's boy, scared of TBI, but what do you do when you roll into a big rain or sand storm in the middle of nowhere?

Never hit a big sand storm but been in plenty of rain storms. If it get too bad you find something like a underpass to hold up under until it passes. Otherwise you ride on.

Everywhere except the mid-Northwestern states. Don't see how I'll ever get to Montana, Idaho, etc...

Sad but true. Here's what it's supposed to look like...

Maybe my great, great grand kids will see it... doubt it though.

Small town Iowa is certainly a throwback.

I have fond memories of it, growing up on the Mississippi, and enjoyed it immensely, as it was like growing up inside of a Twain novel. Much of it is no longer the same, unfortunately. I have been to my hometown once in the past seven years, I graduated HS fourteen years ago. It has seen a sad decline.

Much Victorian architecture, much Potential, much fail.

You just put on rain gear, which I keep in my saddle bag. Rain hitting your face (or really anywhere) at 60-70 mph hurts like hell.

I counted 24. Haven't been to hardly any northern states other than NY, Illinois, and Nebraska.

I thought the same about Montana and Idaho, thankfully one of my good friends is getting married out in Glacier National Park next summer so a I am going to see both.

There is some beautiful country out west, unfortunately much of it is supremely isolated. Perhaps that's fortunate.
