If you don't have kids why not live in a condo?

I think like ~1800sf. Old house. Only issue I have is lack of closets (apparently closets didn't get invented until the mid-1960's). It's us and the three childrens.

Also, only 1 bath.

3000 sq. ft. home without kids.

How often are you using that formal dining room, two guest rooms, formal den, and whatever other bullshite makes up that footage? Unless you just get sick of sitting in one room really fast.

I've got 1719ft with a wife and twin toddlers. Shopping now for ~2200-2500ft so they can grow up with their own space and hopefully a playroom, but mostly because I want a big back yard.

Back when American's weren't strapped with debt, it used to be never.

2605 per the last appraisal.

That’s for me, my wife, 4 kids and a niece.

We feel like we have plenty of space, but we don’t cram our house with crap we don’t use either.

It's not an issue now because the kids are young. We have plans on building something in the future but it won't be this big expansive place. Probably no more than 2000-2500sf but it will be laid out correctly and be well appointed. Quality over quantity.

1350, 130x50 lot size, 3 bdr 2 baths. It's just my son and I so I don't need anything more. When I'm done with paying child support, I'll most likely get something bigger which will be in 4 yrs.

1800 with our first child due in February. Plenty of room with the addition of our shed.

The extra bedrooms, and dining room, not so much. The game room was clear on the other end of the house from the master suite and my wife's office and way out of earshot, though, so I could go in there when I needed to get away from her for a while. When I was back there, bothering me required actually walking across the house, so that didn't happen much.

Also, the third bathroom was over on that end of the house and it was a glorious quiet sanctum where a man could take a shite in peace.

In hindsight, it would have been cheaper to just plumb up an outdoor kitchen in the backyard and skip the extra bedrooms and dining room.

Just over 6,000 SF but, as I have mentioned on here before, it is a home that has been in the family and I bought out the rest of the family / estate with the intent to sell it. In the middle of a long renovation and can't wait to be out of it. You can't imagine the headaches that come with that size house and a large lot.
