Taxes are definitely going up in 2022. If you don’t work it will not impact you, though.

Yes, those first 4 years under obama were rough. But after cleaning up the mess the Republicans made, my business boomed during the second term. And has continued to boom under Trump.

I’ve never noticed much with different presidents.
Biden is a different kind of stupid and sadly he won’t make it more than a year and then the real fun begins.

I hear this as though it's some means of taking importance of losing the presidency. This though is not true. Yes gov mayor can greatly affect your quality of life but the size of the Federal govt makes local leaders somewhat beholden to DC.

According to what we know about Biden's tax plan, your paycheck shouldn't change much, if at all, unless you are making more than $400k per year.

If you own rental properties or buy and sell real estate you will see a massive change if Biden's plans are implemented.

I lost my job the month Obama got elected and then lost everything I had and got divorced. For some reason I couldn’t get a job the 8 years he was president. I then got a job that is tough to get making twice what I was making pre Obama. I got that job the same month trump got elected. I’m sure it was just coincidence.

You do resize that a guy with dementia, who won't last 6 months, will resign and give way to a Socialist who is further left than Bernie Sanders, and who will pick one of the squad as VP.... Your life will change in ways you cannot even fathom at this moment.
If you are young and can be drafted hold on to your arse. Trump us the 1st President ever to not have a war under his tenure.

I usually despise your threads PH Playa, but I'll answer.
I vote republican for Congress, Senator, President.

The Affordable Care Act had two adverse effects on me.
1. the high deductible plan we were changed to was garbage and cost me thousands as it did everyone.
2. I paid $447 tax penalty in 2016 for changing jobs(being without insurance for 4 months). That really pissed me off as it was for NOTHING.

Obama did something good for me during mortgage crisis. He allowed losses on short-sold houses to be left off of income taxes. I went through divorce in 2011 and had to short sell a house. We sold it for 40k under value. Prior to his signing that bill, I'd be on the hook for that difference as 'income' for the year. I know it sounds backwards but look it up under "short sales".
Short sales were a huge deal during the mortgage crisis to avoid foreclosures and bankruptcies.
And without this bill, I wouldn't have received a tax refund in 2012.

The Democratic Party is no longer just a liberal party who may want to set the upper tax bracket at, say, 35% while the Republicans want 26% or the like.

you realize the upper tax bracket used to be much, much higher than that right. it was 50% as recently as 1986 and 70% in 1981. good thing we have a marginal tax rate

Trump’s trade policy with China lost me a job. Tariffs are economically devastating.

If it's a Democrat stuff costs a bit more, if it's a Republican I have to deal with moron college aged kids who don't understand what true suffering and evil is.

So 40 years ago, which is longer than I've been alive. Literally 1981 is closer to WW2 than current day.
